Prior to making Indianapolis his home, Ontay served at the pleasure of former Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm as Community Resource Manager for the Michigan Department of Corrections, Office of Offender Reentry. Before working for Governor Granholm, he served as Chief of Staff for former State Representative Carl Williams (95th District, Saginaw). He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Northwood University and a Master of Public Administration Degree from the Bernard M. Baruch College, School of Public Affairs, City University of New York. In addition, Ontay is a proud alumna of the prestigious National Urban Fellows program (NUF), which develops people of color and women into leaders and change agents in the public and non-profit sectors, with a strong commitment to social justice and equity. Appointed by Mayor Gregory Ballard to the Your Life Matters Task Force, Ontay is very engaged civically in the Greater Indianapolis community. He is involved through the Child Advocates Advisory Board, Eiteljorg Museum Advisory Board, the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, and other community based organizations.

"I’ve appreciated my friendship with Ontay and how he understands and appreciates the importance of relationships. This is especially true in Indianapolis where the same people seem to be on the same boards and seem to attend the same events. I enjoy being with Ontay at various events as he personifies and represents his organization. I’m grateful that whenever I’ve invited Ontay to attend events held by our various clients, he attends them. This tells me he understands the benefit of learning about other organizations and the message that sends to them. Plus, this gives him a chance to build relationships with the others who attend the activities and events. All good. In addition, I admire and respect how much he values and focuses on his family."
